The New Lebron Shoes For Soldiers

Thursday, October 6, 2011

The Nike Lebron Soldier series keeps marching along. This will be the 5th consecutive year that Nike will drop a Lebron shoe under the "Soldier" moniker. The fifth edition of this shoe will be released in more colorways than the previous four years. Already 6 different colorways, including a "Think Pink" edition promoting breast cancer awareness, have hit the market. With the a new edition of the Soldier series releasing, Lebron James has more than one signature sneaker that you can fight the good fight in.
The Lebron Soldier V uses both old and new technology in the construction of one of the best Nike shoes for basketball that is currently on the market. First, the old. The fifth edition of the Soldier continues to use the same midsole and outsole technology. The combination of the Zoom Air and Max Air have been taken from the Soldier IV to provide the ultimate in cushioning. Second, the new. The upper expands on the uppers used in the past by using more Flywire. This year the Flywire wraps around the forefoot and is stretched almost all the way to the ankle. Although this is one of the differences in the upper of the Soldier V, it is not the biggest difference. The biggest difference is the midfoot strap design that has been a staple of this shoe. This year the strap is used both the lateral and medial sides and is actually attached at the midfoot of the upper. In the past editions of the Lebron Soldier, only a lateral strap has been used. This new strap system ensures maximum stability.
There are some very popular colorways of this year's Soldier edition to be had. Cool grey, Pinkfire, Black, and sport red have already dropped. In addition, a new colorway has been rolled out on the this new Soldier. Nike shows us a new color they call Iguana. The new colorway is Iguana/black/white/max orange to be exact. Very close to military green, this colorway is perfect for a shoe who's namesake is "Soldier."
The Lebron Soldier has been a very strong secondary signature sneaker line for Nike now for the last four years. With a price point of $110, this signature shoe provides a very affordable high quality, high performance pair of basketball shoes. The Nike Soldier series looks like it's run will not end anytime soon. With a new look and more colorways, the Soldier looks like it will continue to march on. That is fine by me, this is one great shoe for the court.
This shoe is already available in several colorways, with more colorways getting set to drop.

A Daring Red Pair Of Kobe Bryant Shoes

Have you watched a college or professional basketball game lately? I don't mean yesterday or even the day before that. It is September and obviously basketball is not in season. When I say lately, I am referring to a NCAA or NBA basketball game played last season. In that context, have you seen a game lately? If you have, you may or may not have noticed an unusually large amount of low-cut basketball shoes that are currently adorning the feet of these players. What is going on here? Well, apparently the low-cut basketball shoe has become the shoe of choice for most basketball players, amateur and professional.
The low-cut basketball sneaker has historically been viewed as unacceptable footwear by most ballers. Wearing such a shoe was seen as an invitation to injury, an accident waiting to happen. Not anymore. The recent technology in basketball shoes and the comfort that a low-cut shoe provides, have created a tidal wave of great looking, high performance low-cut kicks. The Kobe Bryant signature sneaker line that began in 2008 was the beginning of the trend of wearing low-cut basketball shoes that is now sweeping the nation, and world. The Kobe IV was the first high performance low-cut basketball shoe that dared to take on the mid-cut basketball sneakers that dominated the hardcourt at the time.
In 2010, still daring the basketball shoe market to change it's ways, the Kobe V released in a wide variety of styles and colorways. More different styles and colorways ever seen on any one model of basketball shoes. The Kobe V did so, and dropped in an even lower cut version than seen on the Kobe IV.
One of the colorways released that year was daring indeed. The Kobe V "All-Star" edition was dropped in a Daring Red colorway and was made for Kobe Bryant's appearance in the 2010 NBA All-Star game. The Daring Red colorway also "dared" to use a wood-grained design, meant to replicate the hardwood of the basketball court, on the forefoot portion of the shoe's upper. It was a very innovative and creative design idea that had never been seen on a shoe before. The shoe also featured black on the midsole, Swoosh, laces, and the Kobe logo. The shoe also featured a translucent outsole. On the heel of the insole Nike placed an All-Star game patch that included Kobe's nickname "The Black Mamba", the year, and the words "Three X MVP".
Nike shoes for basketball have obviously evolved quite quickly over the last few years. Technological design has allowed them to dare to make the low-cut basketball shoes some of the most high performance, lightweight sneakers for the court. They are now more popular than ever. If you have visited Footlocker.com or any of the other major online retailers, you are very aware of this fact. More models and colorways are on their way. Bring 'em on!

NBA Lockout 2011 News - What Is Going to Happen?

As you may know as a fellow sports fan you would know many football fans across the world have been struggling over the recent NFL lockout. And now NBA fans across the world will struggle with the new lockout of the National Basketball Association otherwise known as the NBA. Some ESPN and other professional sports writers and reporters are predicting that the 2011 NBA lockout is going to be a lot worse than the 2011 NFL lockout. Some of the reporters even go so far to say that the NBA may not even have a season this year. I wish this was not true but we have to face the facts, it is all about the money and how much everyone gets paid.
Problem - First off what starts every lockout in the history of sports is the problem that somewhere someone is not getting paid enough throughout the ranks of the organization. It was up to me I would just have them play and just have a flat salary but that is not how the world works in every player is not of equal talent. And in this case the NBA 2011 lockout was primarily caused by the NBA officials and the NBPA (otherwise known as the national basketball players Association) So Let's cut to the chase. The Problem is that the collective bargaining agreement has expired and the NBA players in the commissioners cannot come to an agreement. A collective bargaining agreement is the profit share between the players and the owners and all of the rules and obligations they must comply with. This is the same problem that happened the NFL the players in the commissioners could not agree on the collective bargaining agreement just like the NBA. Although rumor has it that the NBA collective bargaining agreement problems will be a lot tougher to settle the NFL's disagreement.
I have many predictions about what will happen with the NBA lockout.
1. My first prediction is that the NBA lockout will get so bad that some of the players will not even want to play the NBA anymore. Some players may even want to play overseas to become national stars and I think some veterans that would have played in the NBA this year may retire so they don't have to put up with anything related to the lockout. The NBA could lose most of its stars and become not nearly as competitive as it was in recent years. Dwight Howard recently stated that there is a chance the lockout is so bad he may go to play in China. Many other NBA stars like Deron Williams and many other players.
2. Another one of my predictions is that they will come to an agreement just like the NFL but it will not be the greatest agreement and some players may even want to leave the NBA to play overseas. Although it is still possible they could come to a perfect agreement where both sides are making money and everybody is happy.
3. My last prediction is not the greatest of all predictions but is still possible to happen. The NBA lockout could become so bad that the NBA does not have a season for 1 to 2 years because they could never come to an agreement and eventually another lead could come over and take the NBA players from the NBA which could be a bad thing or a good thing it all depends on the situation.

Basketball Tryouts - 3 Aspects to Effective Tryout Plans

Running basketball tryouts effectively requires some thought and planning. You don't want to go into tryouts and simply have players scrimmage for two hours. You also don't want to run a half hour of layups. So what do you do, then, in order to provide players the best opportunity to show you how they handle the basketball?
Here's the way I deal with tryouts: split each tryout practice into three sections, and use each section to observe a different skill set.
Section 1: Conditioning Start off with some drills that will test who is in shape and who isn't. The better shape your players are in at the start of the tryouts, the less time you have to spend on conditioning in pre-season and the more time you can devote to developing fundamentals and team play.
Run conditioning drills like the 30-30 conditioning drill for basketball and sprint drills, and note players' conditioning levels as well as their hustle. I find conditioning drills at the beginning of basketball tryouts are not just good for gauging fitness level, but attitude and determination as well.
Section 2: Skills There are different ways to test skills level. The usual method is to have them do layups and count the number made, or to shoot and count the number made, etc. What I have used that I feel works best for this is skills stations. You could use these at any time in the season to get a feel for how well your players skills are progressing, but tryouts is an opportune time to put these stations into action.
The stations you use can be any combination of skills drills that you want to test - if you want to know how well players can shoot, you can give them a series that includes one station for jump shots, one for foul shots, one for shooting threes, one where they shoot with a defensive player pressuring them, and so on. If you wanted to focus on passing, same idea but with passing drills.
The series I use has eight stations and includes a range of skills like shooting, passing, ballhandling, rebounding, and defense. Each station has points attached to successfully completing it, and so at the end you have a quantitative value to associate with each player, which helps you get a grip on their skills level not just overall, but also on who appears to be a good shooter, who will likely be the better ballhandler, the defensive specialist, and so on.
On a side note, I wouldn't use the stations in the first basketball tryout session. Instead, I would review the skills that will be used in the stations, having players perform each of the skills in pairs so you can observe and correct, and so players should be better prepared to use them in the next tryout session.
Section 3: Scrimmage You need to see how they handle themselves in a game situation, and here you can look for how well players will work in the bigger picture - do they see the open man and give up the ball to a teammate in better scoring position? or do they hog the ball and want all the glory for themselves? Do they hustle back on defense, or jog back after making a basket? Do they demonstrate leadership? Do they fight for loose balls? Do they go up for the rebound again and again until they get it?
Don't be afraid to mix it up a little - e.g., don't use the same drills every session - but at the same time you don't want to get too complicated. Most of your drills should be easy to follow, as you are really trying to observe skills or attributes. But tossing in one drill occasionally that may be a little complex would be a good way to observe who can follow instructions and adapt to change.
In all this, you want help. Preferably several knowledgeable people who can be more eyes for you and see things you may not. Especially important during the stations, where you would really prefer to have one assistant at each station.
Organizing and conducting effective basketball tryouts isn't easy, but it does set the stage for decisions you will need to work with all season, so you want to do a good job.
Good luck!

Adidas adiZero Rose 1.0 Versus adiZero Rose 1.5 - A Performance Review

Among all the signature shoes released by Adidas, the adiZero Rose is indubitably one of the most sought and successful sneakers. Since its release, it has spawned various models, which include the adiZero Rose 1.0, 1.5, and Crazy Light.
The reason behind the shoes' popularity is its claim of being the lightest basketball shoes ever created. Both the adiZero Rose 1.5 and its predecessor adiZero Rose 1.0 weigh 12.8 oz, whilst the new adiZero Crazy Light weighs 9.8 oz.
With regard to its aesthetics and styling, the first Derrick Rose signature shoes feature a sleek and smooth style, which makes it wearable on court and even off court. From the shoe's side profile, one can classify it as a low top supported by an ankle collar. The performance shoes feature the NBA superstar's signature marks on the tongue lace holder, which bears the number one, Rose's jersey number, and Rose's signature on the shoe's side nameplate.
At a fleeting look, the shoes seem too much to comprehend. Moreover, a three pattern PureMotion pods can be observed on the shoe's soles, whilst the popular three-stripe Adidas signature can be found on the shoe heel sole up to the upper heel counter.
In terms of Adidas adiZero Rose 1.0's performance, its light weight is the shoe's asset in playability and speed, particularly in running. The sneaker's design, hold, and weight make it one of the excellent choices when one aims for quick movements and solid performances on court. With various technologies present in the adiZero Rose, it is easy to shift from one direction to another, for the shoes easily respond to the feet's movements.
Even though the shoes weigh 12.8 oz, it still holds outstanding stability. Adidas designed the Derrick Rose signature shoes to hold up its wearer's weight and movement. It also has a start-and-stop ability that prevents sliding when its wearer promptly changes his direction from one way to another. Lastly, the Geofit ankle collar support system is helpful in providing breathability and comfort, as well as protecting the ankles during play.
Just like its predecessor, the adiZero Rose 1.5 is a revolutionary addition to the world of performance shoes. However, unlike most performance shoes, one thing is evident in the second installment of the Derrick Rose signature shoes - it is the fastest playing basketball shoes present. It is also useful in providing its wearer a featherweight feeling, thanks to its sock-like weight and excellent features.
When it comes to performance, the sneakers prove to be effective in assisting quick movements with no difficulty at all. When one shifts from running to jumping, the sneaker's flexibility is evident. The PureMotion technology in the outsole aids the transition from jumping to landing to a full sprint.
With the strongest build and efficient design, the Sprint Frame technology supports the strength of the adiZero Rose 1.5, and gives it a stiff foundation. Furthermore, a patent leather strip hardens the heel of the shoes, giving its wearer the capability to run and jump higher without being interfered.
Furthermore, the Adidas adiZero Rose's traction generally relies on PureMotion technology. The shoe's grip is tight fitting but not totally restricting; for this reason, the foot stays in its position and manages to make natural movements and transitions. Even if the upper part of the shoe features a suede outline, it still does not overheat. This is because of SprintSkin technology, which permits air to pass through the punctures in the shoes.
It is certain that Adidas has managed to create two excellent performance shoes, which feature a light weight formula and various technologies that greatly improve the shoe's breathability, comfort, traction, and speed.
Greg is an all-around sports fan, but especially enjoys shooting hoops in his new adiZero Rose shoes from Adidas. The adiZero Rose 1.5 version may not help Greg play as well as Derrick, but they still up his game.

Basketball Fitness Basics

Great basketball players are known for their remarkable athletic abilities that combine strength, speed, endurance, and agility. Basketball fitness basics consisting of various types of exercises designed for optimal conditioning are necessary to ensure that these athletes are in perfect playing shape. Combining sprint training with weights and plyometrics training will help improve a player's vertical leap, speed, and acceleration on the hard court.
Strength Training - To increase muscle strength necessary for more dynamic movements and the ability to use rapid bursts of power, a base of absolute strength must be developed. Absolute strength is simply the amount of force a particular group of muscles can exert in just one movement. This is one of the basketball fitness basics necessary for improving overall muscle strength over a period of time and can be achieved through power lifting exercises (heavy weights with low number of repetitions.)
Plyometrics - This form of exercise incorporates strength and speed in whole-body movements. For plyometrics training, squat jumping and lateral box jumping, among others, can be done. These exercises are intended to develop both strength and speed. This can prove to be particularly useful in making that explosive first step in executing a killer crossover move ala Allen Iverson.
Exercises to Improve Vertical Leap - Whether for jump shooting, laying up, dunking, blocking shots, or for rebounding, a basketball player needs a good vertical leaping ability in order to perform well. In addition to plyometrics, power-lifting exercises including snatch, clean, and jerk, can help develop this necessary basketball tool as they enhance the lower body strength.
Endurance Training - Running on the court is one thing that basketball players do most. There are basically two methods you can do to develop your endurance - by running long distances at a slow, deliberate pace, and by sprinting. Long distance running can help improve your cardio while sprinting will contribute to the development of explosive and dynamic power, cardio, and speed, which are all essential for a basketball player.
Safety - Basketball fitness basics and the more advance training methods must not be overdone. When trying to build absolute strength, it is important to make sure that you start lifting weights appropriate to your current abilities then gradually increasing the weight. Big jumps can cause injuries. Likewise, proper lifting positions must also be observed in order to avoid straining your joints, muscles and tissues. In between training days, you must provide your body enough time to rest and recover.
